AbleTo Stresses Data Analytics Importance with New SVP Maria Ferrera

The pioneering virtual care company adds SVP of Data & Analytics role to enhance innovative virtual care model

NEW YORK, February 7, 2019 – AbleTo, Inc., a leading provider of virtual behavioral health care proven to improve clinical outcomes and lower health care costs, today announced that Maria Ferrera, a health care strategy and analytics business leader, has joined the company as SVP of Data & Analytics.

With more than 25 years of experience guiding Fortune 500 companies, insurance carriers, and major health systems, Ferrera will lead the team providing the data and analytics used to identify, engage, and optimize treatment of patients who would most benefit from behavioral health care.

Most recently Ferrera served as Vice President of Analytic Consulting and Data Science at Blue Health Intelligence (BHI). In that role she led a team including data scientists, data analysts, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists who collected and analyzed data for Blue Cross Plans across the country to gain insights and drive initiatives to improve system performance. She previously was an independent healthcare consultant and formerly held leadership positions at national organizations, including Anthem, Towers Perrin Watson (now Willis Towers Watson), and AON Hewitt.

Ferrera has a Master of Arts in Psychology, focusing on research methodology and statistics, from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brandeis University.

“Maria has a rich background in using data analytics to drive improvements in health care management that improve outcomes and lower costs,” said AbleTo President and Chief Operating Officer Dan Lieber. “She has tremendous experience strategically applying predictive analytics and machine learning to drive better decision making. Maria’s background in helping payers use these tools to improve performance is going to further enable AbleTo to stay at the cutting-edge of behavioral health innovation and provide improved access for members across all payer populations.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact in improving behavioral health care, ensuring that patients can have access to the right help at the right time,” said Ferrera. “By honing in on how we implement and utilize data analytics, we can deliver accessible treatment that addresses behavioral health with a holistic approach. I look forward to helping AbleTo continue enhancing its results-oriented programs to empower patients and drive value for our clients.”
